Welcome to Shetland Rural Experience Centre, where you can see working dog demonstrations, traditional Shetland sheep, and world-famous Shetland ponies!

Seasonal activities can include sheep shearing and even seeing new-born puppies! Photo opportunities are available and we have some Fair Isle knitting available to buy too.

Meet David and Isla

Shetland Sheepdog Trainers

Shetland Rural Experience Centre and the working croft is run by David and Isla.  They work with approximately 350 sheep. 

They have approximately 15 dogs that they train to run in dog trials and to work alongside them on the croft.

They also run training sessions for people needing that extra assistance with their collie dogs.

We offer bespoke demonstrations fully tailored to tour operators itineraries, including shorter shows, refreshments and more.
