
Born in the Scottish Highlands, Isla has competed across the country with sheepdogs and since moving to Shetland has loved sharing her knowledge of working sheepdogs with visitors in Shetland. Alongside Shetland Rural Experience, Isla runs a family croft.

Having moved to Shetland over 20 years ago to pursue a lifelong ambition to be a famer, Rob has been working with dogs ever since. Rob is the shepherd of an estate with 300 ewes in Yell, and has his own 70 coloured ewes on his own croft in Yell. Rob bought his own sheepdog in 2012 and caught the bug – training three to four working dogs ever year since. Rob has represented Shetland in sheepdog trials four times across Scotland.

Born and bred in Shetland, James Nicolson grew up on the family croft and has worked with sheepdogs from an early age. With over 40 years’ experience in sheepdog trialling, James is a key figure in keeping the tradition alive in Shetland. He is well known for his calm, positive training methods, focusing on confidence, trust, and working dogs in a natural environment. The Nicolson family has a long-standing reputation for sheepdog skills, with generations competing and training to a high level.

Born and bred in Shetland, Rose has years of experience baking traditional Shetland recipes. Known for her warm welcome and friendly face, Rose takes pride in using time-honoured methods to create classic bakes that locals know and love. A true Shetlander at heart, her baking reflects the traditions, care, and community spirit of island life.
